Throwing Events in the Decathlon

There is a well–established rule of thumb in Macclesfield Quiz League, which says you shouldn't ask "either/or" questions – those to which there are only two possible (or feasible) answers. Everyone understands the reason for this: it's because if the first team gets it wrong, it's a 'gimme' for the other team when passed over.

By extension, you might think that questions with only three or four possible answers should generally be avoided.

In modern international athletics, and specifically in the Olympics, there are only four throwing events: discus, hammer, javelin and shot put. Only three of these are included in the decathlon; the hammer is not included.

There are only three possible answers to this question, or at most four. This question should not, IMHO, have been asked.
